Project Description:

Status Electrical have been awarded the electrical contractor scope of work and are thrilled to be able to participate in building of the new Skowkale, Aitchelitz & Yakweakwioose First Nations Health and Community Centre. Located in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia, the Skowkale Health and Community Centre is a unique partnership between Skowkale, Yakweakwioose and Aitchelitz First Nations to bring expanded health management, wellness, and health promotion services back into community. Visitors are welcomed into a cultural gallery that forms a social connective space between the building program elements. Highlighted by a suspended carved cedar canoe, the space is designed to celebrate traditional Salish architecture and showcase First Nations art. The cultural gallery reconnects Skowkale, Yakweakwioose and Aitchelitz First Nations to the land, its natural cycles and processes. The project’s health and community program features spaces for visiting professionals, mental health, counselling, youth and elders, community meeting, fitness, gymnasium, community kitchen and garden, outdoor BBQ facility, playground, sports field, and cultural carving. Additional program elements include leased office space and Skowkale Governance through S.A.Y Lands management, community housing, taxation, councilor offices and council chamber.
